As most of you know Black Friday is one of the best times to buy PC's/tablets. With Lionel and MTH both looking at tablet programs to run trains it might be a good time to pick one up. Does anyone know if the Android tablets will be compatible with both systems?

Hands Down Nexus 7.   You cant go wrong with any iPad but if you dont want to do Apple then a Nexus 7 is the best.

I am a big Apple fan, and own only Mac's for my computers but have Android for both mine and my wife's phone and a Nexus 7 for my tablet.  My wife does use my old iPad 1 but she likes my Nexus much better.

I've been using a Windows phone for about four months now and I have to admit that while it was the cheapest smart phone upgrade path, I really like the layout and design of this OS.  It is intuitive, the look is great and the functionality very useful.  If I were to go to a tablet, it will run Windows 8 because all of my software is Windows compatible and the Microsoft Tablet is the only one that will run a real computer OS, not some strip down version for mass consumption.  The fact that my phone has fully functional versions of Excel, Word, Powerpoint and some other applications makes it the first time I can travel without a laptop for some business trips.

That is simply my opinion.  I know Apple and Google control most of the market now.

Get an iPad with cellular, and no need to find a wireless network or hotspot.  This is especially convenient when traveling.  As long as there is a cell tower around you can get online, and faster than wireless networking.  Great in hotels and airports and probably more secure.  AT&T is $30/mo. for 3G of data, which is alot, unless you are streaming movies or football games.  You can also get an International Data Plan if you travel outside of the country.
