Hi Everyone,

I need a huge favor.  I was wondering if anyone that has the Blue Comet and/or the Chicago & Alton Limited from the 2012 Signature catalog wouldn't mind posting a few photos of the tenders from the rear.  I preferably want to get a good look at the rear marker lamps and how they are mounted to the rear of the tender on each set.

I'm considering, if it allows, ordering the same parts from either loco and using them to install on my Southern Crescent's tender and painting them to match the body color.

I appreciate your help in advance.

I had the same desire to add marker lamps to my Southern Crescent tender. I searched Lionel's parts website for marker lamps and finally found some I liked. It wasn't too hard to add the lights once you figure out where to connect them to the electronic boards inside the tender. The marker lamps I chose are similar to those found on the K-4 Pacific tender.

Paul, I was going to send you a PM about the details you wanted but can't seem to find your e-mail address in your profile. Here are the parts I ordered from Lionel.

1. Marker light housing - 6911147T18
2. Marker light LEDs (red)     - 6911264300 (this is a 3 red LED light bundle for the K-4 tender - I only used two of the lights)
3. Backup light housing - 6sp8022T98 ( this is for a shay tender light but feel free to look for other housings is you don't care for this one. It looks close to what I got)
4. Backup light LED  - 6208312300  ( this is a 3mm white led without the shoulder - there are many others available too)
5. Backup light housing screw  -  (my housing is held in place with a little screw made for the housing but did not come with the housing. The screw size is 4-40 and you can find many on the parts lisiting)

What I did was drill three small holes (1/8 to 3/16) on the back of the tender to match the hole size in the light housings. The backup light required a second small hole for the screw that hold the housing to the tender. The two marker lights come with brass holding wires that can be bent over to hold them in place but I used a dremel and cut the wires off and glued the marker lights to the tender (less holes and was easier). Please note where you drill the outside holes for the marker lights as there are two metal columns inside the tender (holds the tender shell to the tender frame with screws) and will be close to where you want to drill the holes.
