Trying to test to see if it is good. Specifically has a receiver board and a F3B board which I think is sound. Has two gray wires could these be program/ run if so which goes to middle wire. Has 3 wires red, black and purple. Where do these go? Two wires are connected to speaker and two wires go to 9v battery. No connections for lights or couplers. Any help would be appreciated. I think it may be a Lionel board ( for B unit)?

Audio, Power supply and motherboard from lionel
I would guess the 2 gray wires are for pick-up and ground, and the other 3 are for the volume control. Looks like for conventional operation only.
Is this a TMCC board? Looks like has receiver board but no antenna wire.

Chuck is correct, it’s all sound board stuff, no radio board at all,….
Pat
thanks
If you read the numbers off the motherboard, I may have the connections documented.
Looks like a earlier aftermarket kit from Electric RR co. when they were still using railsounds boards.
Nope, pretty sure that's a Lionel motherboard. ERR used a powered motherboard and the RS4 boards before they went with the RS-Lite boards.
I most certainly can. That is an Ed Bender/Digital Dynamics RS4 setup for a diesel. The front end of that m/b is has a VCO to trigger the diesel revs. Can't remember if it was a 555 or a programmed PIC.
Please see the attached manual.
Anyone know what Ed is up to these days?

Ah Ha, forgot all about DD, that's why I didn't recognize that board. I have one of those in a diesel buried in my closet somewhere. Pretty sure it's a PIC processor, I believe you can see the logo on the picture.

There was a short period of time where it seemed DD was the only source providing standalone RS4 combos for upgrades as TAS went away and ERR started up. I had a few engines with early ERR Cruise board and DD sounds. I can’t remember TAS providing standalone sound upgrades.
Not sure if this manual was in the TMCC archives as I didn’t look there.

Norm, it is. See:

Yep, I tried to put all the obsolete manuals I have in there.

The only number I could find was sv3007
Good thing that Norm recognized it right off.
While on this topic I have a Train America Studio board for controlling their smoke unit that I cannot find the documents for either the smoke unit or the board. I think I have all the downloads for TAS that are on the forums list of Reference Materials & Manuals. I could use the manuals for either this particular smoke unit or it's driver board if any of you have them. Or at least a wiring diagram for the board. I do know where the cut black & red wires for the motor go ! Thanks, j

I have a couple of those, and they are indeed the same functionality as the embedded logic on the extended smoke unit. I don't have any documentation, but if there is ever any found, it would be nice.
Thanks to everyone for the help. I think I have figured out everything but where does the purple wire connect to an ERR board. If I understand the instructions correctly, either wire on the J4 ( gray) can be connected to the motor.
Should add AC commander.
