Just got the new Legacy santa fe PA/A set (and B unit).  I programmed one PA/A and the B unit just fine. The other A unit does not allow me to program it.  To avoid wasting your time with the obvious "did you do this/that" replies: yes there is 18v to track, yes, all the wiring to the track is correct and yes, the unit is in PGM mode.  As also mentioned, I just programmed the other two units immediately and perfectly on this same piece of track.

Also, I've never owned a diesel "consist" locomotive. The Lionel manual says to program all units under unique numbers. I've seen some videos however that say to program all units using the same number.  If using the same number for all three units, aren't the two A units, which will be opposite facing from each other, going to pull in opposite directions?   What do you recommend?

Again, my main and primary concern is getting the A unit programmed and running.

Thanks!

So .... yet another offering from Lionel that came straight from the factory with fundamental operating defects?

Sure... I mean why actually test these things for QC so they can deliver what the customer paid for when instead they can just keep delivering defective goods and causing their high-end customers headaches ...right?

Just noticed the B unit makes that basic idling sound -  but I can't start it with Legacy remote. I need to roll it slightly with my hand to start it. And then of course it doesn't respond to Legacy at all.

Another winner from Lionel.

Can someone please advise about how to name/number a diesel consist for best operation?

Thanks

Thanks Rod.  The owner's manual said either program all units with one road number or create a consist, but I like the consist better.

By the way, the locomotives look good- although I'm wondering if the war bonnet is painted on or a decal that's stuck on?  It is raised and not flush as paint would typically be...
