I have a set of MTH 20-2200-1 PRR Centipedes that do not run forward, they run great in reverse. These units are ProtoEffects QSI, is that what is referred to as Proto Sound 1? After exiting “Setup” the lead unit tries to pull the apparently non-operating rear unit. I say apparently because these units will run in reverse. I run these conventionally with a Z1000 controller and 100 watt transformer.
I have removed the rear unit shell and inspected the wiring – all is well. Rotated the both motor flywheels both clockwise and counterclockwise – both rotate freely.
I have thought of turning the units over and applying power to the rollers and frame with clip leads to see if both motors run but they do run in reverse.
My guess is that one of the reversing relays is malfunctioning. I am asking for suggestions on how to fix this unit.
