Sent a PS3 engine (GG1 Road #4922) back to MTH for repair, and it came back with a passenger sound set. Is it difficult to change these, or does anybody do it? I also have the Conrail #4800 Bicentennial GG1 and it has a passenger sound set, and my feeling is it should be freight.. Easy explanations would be good! Thanks.

It is fairly easy for anyone with a computer to change a sound file. SImply download it from the MTH web site to the computer, connect the computer to the TIU with a USB cable if you have a Rev L TIU or a USB>series adapter cable if you don't, make sure only the GG1 is on a powered track, and run the Loader program.
Just refer to The DCS Companion 3rd Edition, 6. Changing DCS Engine Sound Files, starting on page 143.
This and a whole lot more is all in “The DCS Companion 3rd Edition", available for purchase from many fine OGR advertisers and forum sponsors, or as an eBook or a printed book at OGR’s web store!
can you change the sounds on the loco without the tiu?
no you have to use the tiu and serial cable connected to the computer! follow the dcs Barry,s book and you'll have no problems.
