changing sounds on MTH steam engine

Is there a way to change the whistle sound on an MTH steam engine with PS2 or PS3? 3 of my MTH locos have the same whistle, and I'd like to change them to add a little variety. If this can be done, is there a way to listen to samples online before making the change?

It's a little "fiddly", but there is a program written for this purpose. Mark DiVecchio created this little gem.

ADPCM MP3 Sound File Play & Modify Utility

It's been talked about here at some length, and you can indeed modify sound files to your liking, even add custom announcements.
