So with all the changes in the command control world on the horizon and turmoil in with the electronics supply chains, it got me to thinking about what the future might hold for conventional control of our beloved trains. I thought, well at least we’ll still have conventional control of our trains, and the ability to use voltage, whistle, and bell buttons to activate some features we paid for.
That said, do you think there will come a time when locomotives are only able to controlled via an expensive command system or smart device? Removing conventional control would probably simplify the electronics and any computer code required to operate the locomotives and save the manufacturers bottom line.
