No MTH New version of the Coors Light train it seems.....don't think it was coming but it ain't for sure now!!!
No opinion, I don't drink. I spend my money on Trains.
I don't drink beer, so I missed that Durango beer posted above, but I will have to get
some as "souvenirs" for friends and get their opinions of it.
During the Atlas reefer craze I approached, some what timidly, the corporate headquarters of a major household products company about making up some reefers with their logo. A marketing executive met me in the lobby and after I presented a few drawings, cheerfully agreed, no strings attached, but they wanted a couple of each finished cars for their archives. I had located photos of several, and this is the snag, different cars that they used for product shipment. The company had those cars custom built for them locally, and when photos were send to Atlas, they had no molds for them. None of them were standard reefers. I also got a good reception from a meatpacker I approached in the same city, but I found somebody else was already having those cars done. In both cases I harbor good will for both these large corporations for their positive reception. Conversely, my marketing professor had
nothing but contempt for a large carbonated beverage company that he expounded
on for harassing mom and pop restaurants for using a slang abbreviation of their
logo as a generic term for such beverages. I have forever after avoided those
products.....good and bad impressions...
I don't drink beer.....
My favourite beer, which I only drink when on holiday, is Zillertal Bier from Austria.
Only drink when on holiday? No problem.

No opinion, I don't drink. I spend my money on Trains.
Eddie, Eddie, if you did drink you'd spend more on trains
I was in the Army with a fella who couldn't say enough good things about Coors beer being the best on the planet. A few years later I got to try it for myself and wondered what all the fuss was about. Still do. Lousy beer IMHO. Refrigerated, not refrigerated, canned, draft, bottled. Does not even rise to mediocrity. Your taste buds may vary.
My favourite beer, which I only drink when on holiday, is Zillertal Bier from Austria.
Only drink when on holiday? No problem.
Everyday is a Holiday...
The only reason that I only drink it when on holiday, is because they don't sell it here. And it seems to taste best when consumed within 10 miles of the brewery.
September 15 is . . . . Felt Hat Day
So I CAN wear my felt hat while drinking beer on my birthday.
I always knew my wife was wrong about that...
July 14th sounds fun.
November 22 is . . . . Start Your Own Country Day
I celebrate that one every year.
Unfortunately my wife celebrates Invade a New Country Day, ON THE SAME DAY!
(I think she just made that one up)
A comment I forgot to add is that, I have O gauge Coors reefers from Kris, Lionel, and
Atlas. The Lionel ones have been in the public domain since 1492? There are HO ones
and G gauge ones and.....so...it is like catching this guy in the news after his flight
left for Hong Kong, way too little, way too late, and will earn Coors negative good will.
I'll stick with my Natty Boh. As far as Coors not licensing for model railroaders anymore I think that there is something in their Rocky Mountain water alright, judging by what's going on out in that state politically recently, I'd say it's killing brain cells, lol!
I'm surprised nobody's posted one of my favorites yet, Erie Railbender, as well as that it hasn't been licensed to a car.
The Lionel ones have been in the public domain since 1492?
Wow, you mean Chris Columbus brought them over on the Santa Maria?
Rusty
I'll stick with my Natty Boh.
How about those old highschool favorites Red, White and Blue or Wiedemanns?
Drank a lot of both when we went to school dances!
5 or 6 bucks would buy a lot of those beers back in the day!
Jerry
What is odd is that it was the Coors Train which forced MTH to go to PS=3. The train had so many effects it was pushing the PS-2 boards.
Never cared much for coors even when I lived in LA, to me it was watery, tasted like near beer. Yuck.
I like to see Burt and Ernie Piles beer, Schmitz, Ortliebs, Valley Forge, Rolling Rock, Schaffer,Ballentine, and all the other beers that killed a lot of gray matter when we were in school .
What is odd is that it was the Coors Train which forced MTH to go to PS=3. The train had so many effects it was pushing the PS-2 boards.
If that is the case, then Coors was good for something.
I know not about this Coors beer, don't have it over here
However it sounds like yet another Corporate Marketing department short sighted decision, I bet the marketing executive doesn't have a train set LOL

Funny thing about Coors and the whole Ricky Mountain water thing..
I was sitting in a topless bar in Canada during a H ell's Angels rally and noticed they had Coors listed as a domestic, turns out it was bottled in Canada too
I used to enjoy Rolling Rock until AB bought them, then closed the brewery and abandoned their signature glass lined vats or barrels (i forget which it was.) AB really ruined it.
per : Breezinup ' s Calendar , which is a riot
June 28 is . . . . Paul Bunyan Day !
Guess I'll watch the neighbors, the lot next door, cut down the Cedar Trees, !!
Wife's sisters have already said we have to celebrate - Sun. Homemade Strawberry--
THANKS FOR THE CALENDAR !!!!!!!!
They got Canadian ROCKIES, too. Banff and Lake Louise, etc. Paul Bunyan day? Guess one or more of the train manufacturers will be introducing a commemorative set with
a small two truck Heisler and a string of short wheelbase log cars, d'y. think?
Ok I'm not seeing this mentioned anywhere in this thread...
Has anyone seen the newer Coor's commercial where they state "Coor's, proudly brewed ONLY in Golden Colorado for the past _____ years!".
Well, thats false! Coor's was brewed in Memphis, TN up until a few years ago! I remember taking the tours when I was in college. They would get around the "brewed only with mountain spring water from Golden CO" issue by..... wait for it..... BRINGING IN TANK CARS OF IT VIA TRAIN FROM CO!!! Yes, they use to have trains bringing in tank cars of water to brew the beer in Memphis, TN! And they did this for a long time too!
Now here's where I get fuzzy on my logic/memory. Remember the "Smokey and the Bandit" movie? The premise was the deliver a haul of Coor's beer from Texarkana (west of the Mississippi) to.... uh I cannot remember (maybe Atlanta?). But anyway, was there a law about transporting beer across the Mississippi river? I know it sounds stupid, but I want to say thats the reason Coor's built a huge new brewery in Memphis, TN in the first place!
But anyway... my little bit of trivia! Oh, and I still work directly across the street from the old Coor's Brewery today as I have for the past 12 years!
If you like maps.google.com as much as I do... look up
I was sitting in a topless bar in Canada during a H ell's Angels rally and noticed they had Coors listed as a domestic, turns out it was bottled in Canada too
Good Lord, man! You were sitting in a topless bar, and looking up information on beer origins? I am aghast!
As for the beer itself...well, I can't drink beer at all any more. But in the days when I did, I never saw Coors as anything but a trendy status symbol. One hearty sip of Yuengling Porter is enough to make anyone in full possession of their taste buds ashamed to use the words "beer" and "Coor's" in the same sentence.
Guys,
This IS good news start collecting and bidding on what you've got with the logo now!
Makes items with logo's on it even more valuable.
What is bad for some makes it better for others. Myself I drink O'Douls!
Mike Maurice
Tank cars of water for Coors...doesn't sound cheap? Wonder what was on the side of
the cars? Haven't seen any photos of Coor logoed tank cars....and how long was that
brewery, what years, operating in Memphis?
Glad I've already got my Atlas Coors reefers! They look great and they actually have a prototype.
And yes, I will admit that Coors has been my beer of choice since I was in college over 30 years ago.

the cars? Haven't seen any photos of Coor logoed tank cars....and how long was that

Well I did a little reading.... it was originally Stroh's. But Coor's bought and brewed from 1990 til about 2006 I think. It was known as the "Coor's Belle" brewery. Right now it's still brewing beer but I'm not sure who's.
As for the tank cars, I have no idea. I never saw any "Coor's" tankers ever. I'm assuming they used just plain black tank cars?
P.S. I have one of the Atlas Coor's cars that I love. I guess I'll love it even more now that they won't be making much longer maybe?
Look at all the great Coors O scale rolling stock and buildings we're gonna miss! They'll be "collector's items" now. Start looking for them on The Bay so that you can get that unique Coors freight train. Gone but not forgotten...even if we don't like the taste! I actually never realized there was this much Coors stuff out there!
