I've come to love Odyssey, ERR Cruise, and the slow-mo ops of my one LC+ engine.

I have several semi-scale, TMCC 1.0 engines which weren't equipped with Odyssey or Cruise.

I read the Cruise M can be installed on modular TMCC engines without requiring a full replacement of the existing TMCC and RS components.

How do I determine which, if any, are modular and upgradeable?

If you don't mind opening the locomotive, it's easy to determine which will accept the Cruise Commander M.  If the locomotive was manufactured in 2000 or later, it most likely has modular electronics, which is what is required for the CC-M.  You can also take the Lionel product number and look up the specific engine in the parts site.  Just use the last five digits of the number in the page below.  For the typical Lionel 6-xxxxx number, just use the xxxxx part.

One caveat, there are modular TMCC Steam that use a E-unit board vice DCDR.  The Cruise M is meant to replace a DCDR or the DCDS ody boards.  Those modular with E unit boards do not have the room to install the CCM and integrate.  Those 28000 Series Pacifics and Hudsons Lionel flooded the market with in the late 90's early 00 have some models built this way.  I have a few.   G
