I am building a new, large layout. I know eventually, I’ll need two TIUs in supermode to operate the layout. I only have one Rev L TIU with WIfi. If I purchase the new TIU WiF will the two work together and will my remotes work with the units in super mode

thanks

No, not with remote. Yes, in theory with Wifi App.

WTIU does not have 900MHz radio to talk to a remote. WTIU supports tethered remote only- then the other TIU cannot see the remote- because when tethered- the remote radio section is disabled.

Related topic regarding WTIU and remote.

To be clear, until the actual WTIU is manufactured and ships-we are all just going off of previous conversations and released information from MTH- which isn't great. It's great that people are trying to plan ahead and test and so forth, but again until it actually ships, at best we know they said no wireless remote officially supported.

I also run in Super mode.  I did buy 2 Wifi to units to try. Worked without any issues. I just prefer a remote. I don’t have a lot of MTH so I should hopefully be set for some time with spare components. A lot of what I do involves switching moves.

As Vernon stated. You need to tether the remote to the new TIU. Becomes somewhat of a pain as the units have to be easily accessible to switch off. The idea of a tethered remote doesn’t bother me. I had an Al Trol throttle back towards the end of my conventional days with multiple stations to plug into. I watch a lot of videos of operation designed layouts and many use tethered throttles when running DCC. .

I spoke with Andy Edelman at the Springfield MA. show in January. I suggested coming up with sort of Y type cable with a receptacle box to plug the remote into. So that when running in Super Mode with a remote. The remote could be tethered to both TIU’s at the same time. Then maybe have the ability to expand the box to have stations at different locations around the layout. He was interested enough to right a reminder to check into it.

If they can consider that, why not a little box that just allows the remote to connect to the new WTIU wirelessly, problem solved!  What's with this tethering crap?
