Getting back into the system but does it really matter on what system I get I see a lot of "what revision is it" so do I get the L ver or later or does it matter if I get one below that ,what's the reason behind it all

Absolutely!
The Rev. L is far superior to any previous TIU.
Go with the L version. In fact, try to get the latest batch. There have been reports here of fails. MTH fixes included replacing the parts and adding components so they do not fail again. The new batches would have the added components. Only going by what I have read on this forum.

Look at it like this, you want the most up to date best working electrical
piece of equipment you can purchase, no matter if you are purchasing DCS equipment or stereo equipment, or TV/Computers. If you are going to invest in modern technology, do your home work and purchase wisely.

Ken shame on you for selling your Tin Plate, especially now that you are thinking about DCS, the MTH P2/P3 Repro Tin and the original Lionel Tin Plate are so cool runing together its incredible. I am not a reality train guy, I love my Tin Plate Trains, especially now with remote control, slow speed and great sounds.

Lol hi Dave, well it is not that I hate tinplate cause I don't, it's just I need to start getting back into the train room doing details again, not just running trains, I love running the trains but need to get back into modeling again,
