I was reading through some of my CTT magazines and the Feb.,2010 issue had an article about making dual O and Standard gauge track by combing the two gauges and using a common middle rail. running both and I was intrigued with the idea. You have to use 072 curves to match standard gauge curvature but it looks very possible. Has anyone tried this and any unforeseen problems ??

Steve papa Eastman made a video of how to do it.
This topic should really be in the O-27 section of the forum, or the tinplate section, rather that the three rail scale section.
I thought Gargraves or somebody made that track. It would be a lot harder to do what I would like, combine three rail and On3 two rail.
The article was pretty straight forward and it didn't look too difficult. No switches but I don't use then any way. I dug out a bunch of my old standard and have to clean it up first. Wanted to any how. Think I will make a stretch of straight first just to try. At one time I had On3 but never thought about combining. Having a common center rail helps.
Gargraves does make O-gauge/Std-gauge dual track, and they also make O-gauge/S-gauge track.
501-201 | 37" Standard & O-Gauge with 5 Tinplated rails | each | $11.30 |
201-401 | 37" O & S-Gauge with 4 Tinplated rails | each | $11.00 |
701-401 | 37" #1 (G) & S-Gauge with 3 Tinplated rails | each | $10.50 |
701-201 | 37" #1 (G) & O-Gauge with 4 Tinplated rails | each | $10.00 |
I wish I had known that when I put in a new outer loop with 072 curves. Nice to know, though. You never know.
