Does anyone make the 1970 era dumpsters...not the roll on-roll off kind but the kind you'd find in an alley behind a store.

I use to see these at local shows in the early 90’s. They were all brass and made by Pioneer Valley Models in Holyoke MA.. They advertised in OGR. . Just do a Google search and a few pop up. They are out there. They are though on the expensive side. But just one to get a scene period correct it might be worth it.
Here are a couple.
I too could use a couple of these. Some of these small details can be hard to track down sometimes. I've been trying to find a shopping cart of some type to turn into a Harry Potter scene going through the platform 9-3/4 wall.
There are some 1/50 scale modern dumpsters at Black Forest Hobby that may fit your needs.
@CBS072 posted:I built these out of plastic sheet.
Nice work!
Yeah, when I first saw the OP's post, I thought this would be an ideal scratch-build project, either out of plastic or even card stock. I may add this to the (long!) list of potential upgrade projects! Good luck, Tom -- it seems you have a few leads on finding off-the-shelf alternatives, and at least inspiration to try to roll your own if nothing is suitable. Good luck, in any event!
Should be a piece of cake for someone with a 3D printer.
I bought a couple of kits made out of white metal years ago. Not sure if they were from Artitsta or one of the other companies that did detail parts. Check the Scenery and Structures Forum vendors list or like John said 3D printed ones. Check that forum or eBay.
I have a man who says he can 3D print some if I can get pictures. Still looking but they are surprisingly hard to find..
He made me some motel maid's service carts a few years back and no one else on Earth has any like them. HA!
I just did an ebay search under model trains for dumpsters and got 22 listings under O scale. One of the listings is for the Artista dumpsters I have. 4 sides and two lids glued together. No bottom. I left one lid open and made "garbage" from a broken piece of Styrofoam painted different colors and pushed up through the open bottom.
And you can always check Shapeways the 3D printing website.

There are a bunch of different types on Thingiverse.com which can be printed.
