Maybe you guys have already seen this idea, but it took me 15 minutes to add a nice layout skirt by buying "banquet skirts" from the web. Lots of colors available and it already has velcro attached. It will look better after the wrinkles have hung out, but it couldn't be easier to install. Check it out.

WOW! That really dresses up the layout. Your layout cabinetry looks good without the skirt, but the skirt really adds a finishing touch. Great Idea!

I'm more than familiar with table skirting, and this is by far the best application I have witnessed. Your layout is great without, but it does turn a sandwich into a banquet. Nice touch. BTW, I'm afraid that you may have to employ an iron to release those wrinkles.
I'm a patient (i.e. lazy) guy. If the wrinkles don't clear on their own after a year or so, I'll take a steamer to it.

BTW, please ignore the random ceramic figures scattered all over including on top of the train cars. This layout is for me and my granddaughter to play with, and she love rearranging the figures.

what is the length
The banquet table skirts come in different lengths... the longest is 17.5'. The lengths are calibrated for standard tables, like a 6' folding, 6' round, etc. The height is also standard folding table height, about 29-30"

If you search for banquet table skirts, you will often find that a specific color or length is on sale because they have too many at the warehouse. Very affordable. You buy a stick-on roll of the opposite velcro to attach to the layout, then it's easy on/easy off!

You can also use a spray wrinkle remover. No need to take the skirt down. Stuff works quite well.
