This is the correct video
Have no clue how to edit an original post another problem with this set up
Merciful heavens! Now, that's what I call a ground.
Obviously there is a very high amperage fuse that does not blow, since you can have any number of motors turning times x hundreds of amps each. Lucky no one was in the carriages (they look UK to me) when the catanary fell.
Maybe, we should stick with diesels...

Little bit smaller short circuit happens at 45 seconds into the video

While not a short circuit this one is good too:
Matt,
The UP engine must be like that old Timex watch commercial "takes a lickin and keeps on tickin". Even see fire in the engine but train does not slow down.
Second one apparently is during the winter so the pantographs are breaking off the ice on wire. Spectacular though must be common as no one is concerned.

That is because that "fire" was NOT in the "engine" nor "engine room". The narrator of the video was totally wrong when he stated that it was a turbocharger failure. In reality, the failure was to there rear dynamic brake grid blower motor/fan assembly, and you actually see the fan portion fly right out of the top of the dynamic brake grid hatch.
Now, since that UP freight train in the video, is going DOWN GRADE, in full dynamic brake (you can hear the dynamic brake grid blower motors howling), if anything the speed will INCREASE, until the Engineer applies train air to maintain posted speed. It wouldn't have taken the Engineer long to realize that he just lost all the dynamic brake effort on his lead unit (his load indicating meter would have dropped to zero DB effort)!
Although it's an old video, it is pretty cool.
Cool video. too bad most of the amateur videographers around haven't figured out the "holding the camera steady" thing.

Nor the use of a tripod!!!!!!!
Interesting video. Boy you could clearly see that baby go flyin.
