Does anyone have an example of a layout that mixes trains of varying sizes? I enjoy O gauge in large part due to the operating accessories which make it a lot of fun for my kids. What I'm not so crazy about are the high prices for rolling stock and locomotives when compared to other scales. Also smaller scales take up a lot less space. Thinking about trying to add a N or HO scale track to my O gauge layout. Has anyone done a layout that combines O gauge with N or HO scale trains?

Some layouts have N or HO trains as kiddie rides in parks.
HO track is used for On30 trains too.
Mine ore trains could be a smaller scale also.
HO could be used to made a background scene seem more distant.
I have Standard Gauge and O loops, just cause I can.
I used to have a loop of G scale track on the outside and a loop of 3 rail O scale on the inside loop. All I have now is a loop of 3 rail O scale. If and when I ever stop procrastinating about a layout I plan on 1 loop on G scale as the outside loop with a 2 rail O scale layout on the inside. Someday.

I have a large loop of plastic G gauge track as an elevated line on the outside of my 6' by10' O gauge layout. the loop is supported by Lionel "A" trestle bents. I fitted a combination of 027: 42", 54" curves and sts. to create a loop that fits on top of the G gauge one to run Marx and other trains that don't behave well on switches. This loop can be removed easily in large connected sections when I want to run G gauge trains for visiting kids. I'm also in the process of fastening HO flex-track between the G gauge rails so that i can run some HO trains as well.
I operate O Gauge and Billerbahn HO on the same layout. Billerbahn is sort of
O in size, but operates on HO track. It's lot of fun.
