don't know if 3 r or 2 r scale is best, but here goes.

When building scale passenger cars, for rest room windows. I have been using clear material followed by generic waxed paper.  It works well for privacy, however many real rr have fancy frosted windows, both heavyweight and streamlined cars.

I am mostly thru 24 cars in various states of finished.

Does anyone know where to obtain fancy frosted rest room windows.

This is what I was eluding about.  I do not know how to make these fancy rest room windows.  It would be nice to be able to purchase some fancy windows.

Okay, this is a really "low tech" method. Draw your fancy design on the surface of a piece of Scotch Brand Magic tape. Carefully adhere it to the inner surface of the restroom window which is already glazed with clear material.

Slightly higher tech: If you have a image of the prototype window design that you want, you can scan that and print it with an ink jet printer in proper size on a sheet of clear material that is used for overhead projector "slides" if you still have some or can find it at an office supply store.  Then attach that to the window.   Of course you can use a computer "paint" program to "draw" the design you want and make copies that you will print on the clear material.

I don't know about "eluding", but I think what he was after is that cut glass look that Pullman had on heavyweights.  I do not believe anybody has done it satisfactorily in O Scale - I have always been happy with careful one-direction sandpaper scratches.  I will check my GGD plastic Pullman - If anybody has done it, it would be GGD.

Don't know what happened there but its not a good pic. Walthers set# D132 Prism Windows White There are 3 different styles and about 18 decals each a little tricky to adhere to the polycarbonate I use for windows but look decent. Search Passenger car interiors or Whats on my workbench for better shots. PSC sells a laser cut thin metal overlay that is exquisite but is always backordered

I have looked at my GGD passenger cars.  They do have ornate windows on the rest room windows on the heavyweights as would be expected by Scott.  The streamliners apparently do not have rest room windows, but I will double check again.

My Silver Meteor and Metroliner cars; I will have to check prototype pictures to see what is what.  I also will check my NH Colonial prototype pictures, so I know what I need.

These were supplied in several styles and were also available separately.

I'll have to take a look in my cigar box of decals for some.

Probably could directly scan them in and re-print them on overhead projector film - I know I've got a few packs of that stuff laying around!

May be useful to some modeler out there, I use the 'cross hatch' clear boxes that watchbands come in. (Retired Jeweler) all you'd have to do is ask, your local jeweler, they get thrown out constantly, clear medium thickness, can be frosted from the smooth side should one wish. A few of my pieces have been shown here on the Forum that I have done for other members using this material. An ultra thin wash of any ink or black liquid will highlight the XXXX pattern. Looks best on heavyweights but fine for many other places as well.

this is probably the most likely.  since walthers ceased o gauge years ago, it is also unlikely.

does anyone have them in their "whatever" box?
