Guys I am putting together a around the tree 36 in track. Some of the curves have a silver center rail and some are black. Does this make a difference in the track? I don't seem to be getting enough power.
Lionel did initially produce fastrack with an anodized (blackened) center rail. So you could have some of this early version fastrack. Like Gargraves does with its center rail. Should not be a problem to use.
I suggest you view the following Lionel video about ensuring good track to track continuity. You can skip the initial part using the meter and jump to the 1min50sec point in the video to view how Lionel suggests to improve track to track continuity.
The track with the black center rail and the next 2-3 production runs were of the best, top quality FasTrack. It has been steadily cheapened since then... much lighter plastic castings and lighter rail stock.
