Can anyone tell me if a Fastrak O-72 wye is the same as 2- O-72 curves back to back starting at the same point? In other words will one side of the wye take the place of an O-72 curve?I have my doubts. Thanks in advance?Nick

Nope, sorry. Part of the issue are the straight fillers that attach on all three connecting points. The 036 switch with an added 1/4 curve section is the only one I'm aware of that will replace a curve section one-for-one.

Nick,
I don't have any FT, but a quick mock up shows a Y turnout with a 1/2 O-72 curve is a little longer than a piece of O-72 curved track. In the picture below, a 1/4 circle of O-72 is placed over a 1/4 of O-72 with a Y turnout.

Thanks guys.Nick
You can trim half of the road-bed off of a curve to fit in where the 1 3/8" pieces go, but the wye still doesn't fit into the middle of a curved area. I tried several ways like Chessie did.
Edit: examples added wye no-go, switch in curve with 1 3/8" of ballast (rbed, one side) removed-yes
