My favorites change from time to time. Right now I like licorice and cotton candy. I would try the MegaSteam smoke pill scent in the steamer.
One that doesn't smell like mop water
I lost my sense of smell a few years back and about the only things I can smell are usually bad smelling. There's a perfume that women wear that smells just like mop water to me
I have a bottle of regular coal scent but it just doesn't smell quite right now, so I run my engines without smoke.
Pumpkin Pie!
Peter
Apple & Nada
Vanilla.
Grandpas Pipe
Cranberry Woods
Christmas Pine
Cranberry Woods and/or Orange.
Grape and Vanilla.
Johnson & Johnson baby oil because that's what I use.
The only Megasteam I've used was the coal fire steamer, wood burning stove(?) and christmas pine I think. I still like the coal one, but it does get to me after awhile. Ran out not too long ago but I had the bottle since I purchased it at Trainfestival 2009 in owosso.
Pipe smoke scent because it reminds me of my grand dad.
The favorites around here seem to be:
1) Apple Harvest
2) Vanilla
3) Hot Chocolate
I like the real stuff (coal fired steam, diesel, etc.) but it doesn't go over well with the wife and kids.
Personally, I keep holding out for "Weed" but something tells me I shouldn't hold my breath
Now I know the rivet counters would only use the correct scents in their engines, but for me Nada works if I don't run the smoke too long.
Christmas Pine and Forest & Stream - I like Cinnamon roll too but the others are more acceptable to others in the house.
Peter
Forest and Stream for me. Will order another large bottle soon.
Nada. It doesn't bother my allergies no matter how long I run, and it doesn't make the house smell.
Bourbon!

Coal-Fired Steamer. To paraphrase a great movie line: "I love the smell of coal smoke in the morning".
Gilly
Steam engines are only nasty if they're working properly.
I really like the Root Beer. Some of my friends called my collection of scents a smoke wine cellar
NADA, because it is practically odorless!
Marx scent. You have to ask for it, but it is available.

Not having much experience with Marx or Lionel smoke pills do they hit the mark on the old scent? Just curious?
Pipe smoke and coffee. Anyone try the Eggs & bacon?
Hickory Wood and Diesel Power mixed!
i can't smell any of them
My favorite would be the Smoke Pellet scent

I used the bacon in my smoking diner one Christmas. It drove our Jack Russells crazy & they kept going onto the floor level layout to search it out.
Christmas is by far my fav., but we also use orange.

I like the Coal Fired Steamer, and it is Pungent. My wife hates it so I run Christmas Pine in the Engines on the Christmas layout. I like it for the season and it's appropriate under the tree.
I also have Sawdust for my Sawmill on the layout, Haven't got it in operation yet but tested the scent and it's good.
Original Cedar for one.
The other one I like is Trashed Out Oil burning Alco Diesel.
Oh wait a minute; I think that one is still in development.
Rod
Candy cane express.
Personally, I keep holding out for "Weed" but something tells me I shouldn't hold my breath
Then they'll have to come out with Oreo and Dorito scents!

I also like the coal fired steamer. And I'm still waiting for "crowded train show on a warm day aroma." mmmmmmmmmmm
Its got to be the coal smoke!! I also wish you could get this stuff pour out thick and black for oil burning Santa fe Northern - but before anyone says I know its impossible!!!!!
