Hi Guys anybody see a problem using Open Grid Bench Work for a ceiling Layout??

I don't want to use the metal brackets for support and I was looking at doing something like this...

The corners would be the tough part  the rest about 12" to 16" wide at some spots.

I can't find the video but someone used just wood and I was thinking of doing the same plus having the finished edge...

If you are considering the more expensive cantilever option,  your wood needs to be thicker. Also note for every foot the wood sticks out at one end, you must bolt in the other end at least 1 1/2 - 2 foot.... hence the cheaper option of the brackets. your other option is to suspend the outer ends with cables or down rods.

Those die cast O scale locos are NOT lite!

Thanks Mike,

Yes, that fellow did a first rate job!  I used metal brackets for mine.  Look at my thread Ceiling Layout  You can see a lot of examples other folks gave me, and see my latest photos on my entry dated February 22, 2014 10:22 PM.  Since then I conquered the brick wall dilemma by suspending all-thread from the joists to support along that wall.  What the video shows is what I need to do to conquer my corners.  I do not have as much room above the doors, since mine is in a basement family room, and I have some physical problems that working scrunched up against the ceiling exacerbates.
