Tonight was a long time in the making.  From 2014 - 2016 I had a basic train layout set up in my garage.  It was roughly 8 x 12 and was comprised of a few sheets of plywood sitting on top of 3 wooden folding tables. Even though it was basic I could spend hours out in the garage running my trains.  Since the space that the layout was located in was a single car garage I new that I had to eventually relocate it so the space could be used for its intended purpose.  So In the summer of 2017 with the blessing of my wife I began to gut and remodel the unfinished side of our basement.  I finished the remodeling around Christmas of 2017 and at that point got busy with life and didn’t make to much progress until this past summer.  Over the summer I worked on building a frame for which my backdrop would attach to. (See picture below).  On Friday of this week I received my photo backdrops I ordered from Railroad Backdrops and got them hung this evening. (See photo below) They look great and I plan on starting the bench work for my layout this week.  I am hoping to have the basics of the G & W layout completed  by Thanksgiving so I can run my trains by Christmas.22A18B8D-7413-4817-96E1-D1D2E3F2B1B0109EA453-73A4-4520-A26F-7574FC2CECDDDCB5D329-94A4-437A-994B-1782DCC2A6A9506BB118-3200-4FD5-B53F-EB697C2A4814

Looking good UTOWN. I like the backdrop.  Are you staying with your old layout plan.

We are in the same boat,  I have been redoing our basement.  We bought a 100 y/of house to fix up. I had to finish majority of house before going to the basement.   On TV it only takes 20 minutes to do these old houses. Long story short I got into the basement this summer and just finishing up the walls, wiring ect. . I hope to have trains running by Christmas, or at least a loop of track. Keep posting updates.
