building the platform/legs. It will consist of dado jointed 1X2" into 2X4 uprights, and skinned with OSB would prefer 1/2" fairly decent grade of plywood, but cost of plywood is thru the roof, will need a total of eight sheets of 4X8 for complete project $72.00 versus 335.00. Me I am confident enough that i can make strong eye appealing cabinet with storage under out of listed components. did not include cost of hinges and or latches but probably another 10-15.00 for those. entire set up will be enclosed off the floor, set up as cabinets with lot of storage area and access for wiring. (had i started my building project today instead of when i did, the OSB would have cost another 90.00 from what it originally cost)
Here is the question
Surface area of the thing is going to be OSB if one looks at OSB can easily see the outline of the various chips used to make the product. There is only one time to do what i am talking about and that is when there is nothing to put on it but "paint" or "whatever"
the WHATEVER is the subj of the question. Thinking that a textured type finish would be interesting and would help the overall project, a textured finish would enable "grass" to be easily created. One of the products i have codgered int he brain pan is what we see on TV as a deck surface paint, looks like it is rather thick and covers well. another thought was cloth, years ago, (I mean years) I helped my dad work on a deck of a old "catboat" and he used canvas and paint, the canvas was painted on, and layers of paint on top of the canvas. Paint layed down and while paint wet canvas put on top and another coat of paint. then when dry another coat of paint, In old days pre WWII this was common practice to keep decks below dry. This made a nice surface and could be done with linen, smaller weave than canvas??
All kinds of things will go on this, and take many many years to do all of this (i hope) the list is endless, TO SCALE roads, dirt, gravel, blacktop, concrete, sidewalks, dirt trails. Not to mention hills, trees, fields streams and buildings
been thinking of a water mill turning. Many of the things i think about may never get built, but WTH this is all part of it
When I get some legs and platforms built i will post a photo or two
back leg assembly done, now skinning it with OSB Years ago, my bride gave me a beautiful set of Dado blades and complete set up to cut up to a 2" wide dado. All of the 2X4's have been worked up and the 1X2's cut from 2X6's fit in perfect, and I feel will be quite strong
