I got a call from Nassau Hobby Center earlier today saying that the new Gold Polar Express Berk would be delivered to me tomorrow. Wow! Suddenly, It’s Christmas Eve!

Still, the skeptic in me was urging restraint, until I checked my email and found the UPS tracking information. Clicked the link and “Hallelujah!” The Gold Berk is “In Transit”, which I think is good. I’m not sure I will be able to sleep.  I think I should leave a plate of cookies for the UPS Deliver Man. Lionel has delivered as promised. Christmas is saved! God Bless us everyone!

Look for the special glasses that should ship with the Gold loco, so you'll be able to read the blue lettering on it without hurting your eyes.

If the production models looked like the one Lionel had on display at York this past October, the blue lettering fades into an unreadable graphic once you get about 4 feet away.  And within 3 or 4 feet it really hurts your eyes to try and read the lettering.

Hopefully the production models have improved color-contrast for improved blue lettering on the gold background.

Glad you're excited to receive it though.  Nothing like toy trains to make us feel like kids again.

BAH HUMBUG!

I've heard all that, but we're talking about a Fantasy train. I'm confident that Lionel will accurately reproduce a figment of someone's imagination.

Charles Ro website indicates all the Berk's are in-stock!!!    Should be receiving a shipping notice any day now for the Black PE Berk.  I missed the first run several years ago.  Glad to see Lionel re-issued it... with whistle-steam to boot!!!

David

P.S.  Did anyone see them at the Charles Ro open house this past weekend???  Or perhaps they arrived onsite today (Monday).

I know many of you who already have the black Legacy version are getting the gold.  I would do the same if I already had the black one so that's what I'm getting this go around.  I couldn't afford both the black and gold full sets.  So congrats and I look forward to the pictures and videos tomorrow.  While I wait for my black version.  It's so great that these made it well before the holiday to give everyone more than a month to enjoy them in the season they were meant for.  It's turning out to be a great holiday season already.

I spoke with C. Ro today, and during our convo, I was told that the Berks might be on the truck that arrives tomorrow.  If so, then I would receive an email stating that the PE Berk is on its way to my house, once they have processed inventory.  I was told the truck is a very large one, with lots and lots of inventory.  I was told that the PE Heavyweights, are scheduled to make their appearance around 10 Dec.  I hope I get them before Christmas, otherwise my PE Train is going to look rather short with only 2 cars.

Wow, talk about raining on someones parade

Emile, enjoy your new engine - nice to see someone post with such excitement about a new delivery.

OK... I'll plead guilty to being the grinch on this one.  But imagine how we all felt when we saw the gold engine at York for the first time!  Sorry if it came across the wrong way to Emile.  But he seems to have weathered things pretty well.  BTW, the next time you quote someone here, quote the whole post or use a "..." to indicate you didn't.

I wished Emile well with his purchase, as I would anyone making spending a large chunk of $$$.  I just hope the production units are a notch up from the display at York in terms of the tough blue/gold color bleed.

No David, they had not arrived in time for the Saturday Open House event.

...

Thanks for confirming, PTC.  Just thought I'd ask... although I figured you guys and gals who attended would have posted something if you had seen them.

No apology necessary! I think most threads are more interesting when there is a genuine disagreement that encourages a dialogue. We are from different camps. My interests are largely Christmas related whereas you are a Genuine Article Train Guy. It stands to reason that you would be disappointed upon seeing the sample at York, while the blue paint issue is largely irrelevant to me. Whether or not it came across the wrong way to me, I can't answer. How did you intend it to come across? In any case, We're all good.

Good luck with your Black Berk. I think you made the right choice on that one.

Emile
