Help! I updated my legacy command from version 1.42 version 1.61 and now I don’t have a legacy signal is this some problem with the update

Did you update both the base and the remote?

Yes I did.  Oddly though the remote is at 1.61 and the base is at 1.60.  I understand that it should not be a problem.

I have done more than my share of upgrades and never have seen this.  Have you disconnected the base to upgrade it?  If so are all the connections made again and tight.  Could the post on the base loosened if you removed it for upgrade?

 Yes I have reconnected everything all wires are secure and tight no loose connections no matter what I do the Lionell light on the front of the transformer just keeps flickering I have even gone back to the original software that came with the legacy command system which is version 1.4 still no success.

Are you using a cab module and a base module?

Where is it plugged in?  Same spot as when it worked?

Yes. I am using the appropriate module in the appropriate piece

meaning cab module in the cab remote and base module in the base

Is the ZW-L the only thing showing an issue?  Can you try it against another transformer and an engine?  There are no settings in the Cab2 that would "turn off" the Legacy track signal.

Just out of curiosity, were does the "1 wire" connect, to the ZW-L's common /Legacy post or track's outside rail?

I have a small xformer I can try.  The one wire is connected to the post on the xformer that is specific for legacy command.

I truly think that something is wrong with the xformer even though it worked 20 minutes before I did the update.  I have checked and rechecked the few connections that there are and still no luck.

Please keep us posted. All of us are now scratching our heads. Can you reset the ZWL for command?

Marty and Marty are the knowledgeable folks here so by all means listen to them first. Just a thought I had, but there was a thread or two here about the Legacy base signal post being loose on the inside. Been a while, but seems like they didn't know it was loose until they got inside? I have not had mine apart so I don't know what's even in there to come loose. I don't have a ZW-L either.

RTR12 wins the award for solving the problem!!!!!

It was a loose nut inside the Legacy Base.  It connects the U wire to the board inside the Base.  The nut had wiggled loose over the years.  Now it makes sense why from time to time the signal light would flicker on the ZW-L transformer.  Apparently the trip up the stairs to the computer to update the software was enough to wiggle the nut to the point of no contact with the mating parts.  Thanks to all for their suggestions.  I have a happy 9 year old who can now run his new engine!

It was a shot in the dark! I just remembered those past threads and it seemed like the posters thought everything was tight as well, then they finally looked inside. Someone else suggested to them about tightening inside and that was it for them as well.
