Help - make my MTH F3 Move

If it is trying to move but can't something is binding.  Tires off?  Grit in gears?  Recommend removing shell of A unit and turning flywheels by had. See if binding.

Also CW-80 is not best for PS-1 pure sine wave is better.  G

The CW80 is suspect, it is not recommended by MTH. Try a transformer that is on MTH's recommended list.

Edit: Try GGG's suggestions first, he know a lot more than I do.

Proto-1    Probably needs a new  battery.  

Checked the tires and they are ok, and it's def not the battery since I replaced that before starting.

maybe it is the CW80 - though seems odd that it wouldn't move off - I heard the problems with CW80 were more sound related (constant bell etc)

We had exactly the same type problem when my youngest son got a PS1 PRR turbine.  A buddy told me a CW-80 won't work with PS1.  We bought a Z1000, hooked it up to the track and the engine moved out like a champ.

May have solved it - I had 5 lighted passenger cars elsewhere on the layout - seems that powering the F3s and the lights to the cars may have been too much for the CW80 - will re test in the morning 

Ok, Definitely not a battery,  When the engine cycles and try's to move and the sounds respond it has to be a power issue, binding/mechanical issue.  In this case the added motor draw with those hidden lighted cars overloaded the Transformer.  Which does mean you wan to go with a bigger transformer.  100 to 180 Watts.   Glad it is working.  G
