Curse my local hobby shop!!

Unbeknown to me he ordered a Union Pacific Shay.  I just saw it on the display rack today.  Grrrrr....the temptation of it all.

The new Shay's say they need O-72 minimum. The old ones could run tighter.

Can anyone who owns and has run the most recent 3-truck shay definitively confirm that it can run on Atlas O-63 curves?

Also any issues running it conventional with a new Lionel ZW-L?

Advice appreciated.

Thanks

I haven't bought it yet... I'm not going to buy it unless I know it will run on my inner loop.

Got it, I don't have one of those.  I think Mr Muffin had a Shay thread posted, you may be able to find it or even call his store and talk with him about it.

If you do get it, you know the 'thread' we need pictures posted in....

I have the 4-truck PS3 Shay and it runs very well on Gargraves and Atlas O54 curves. I expect that the 3-truck Shay would do O54, was well. The connection between engine and tender looks to be the same.

The only mod I made to it was to swap the 2 single pickup rollers for 2 dual pickup rollers. I can now go at 2 SMPH around my entire O54 Gargraves loop, including switch ladders of 5 or 6 back-to-back Ross turnouts.
