I love the look of two tracks branching off the main line and crossing at a diamond, so I incorporated a Ross 22.5-degree crossing into my track plan which uses Gargraves track. However, one picture I saw of an old one showed that the entire middle section was a large piece of silver metal with no visible ties underneath. I cannot find pictures online of what the current production 22.5 degree crossing look like to confirm if they are the same or not, but I hope note because it looked really ugly.
Is there any way to hide the massive middle-rail of the crossing? If so, please post pictures of what you did on your layout. One of the tracks will be buried partially in dirt and weeds so I might try that.
Atlas O also makes a 22.5-degree crossing with ties but they wouldn't match up with the Gargraves track, but perhaps I could remove the rails from it and mount them on Gargraves wooden ties?
