Hi

I am thinking of buying the new MTH Caterpillar SD70ACe engine, to be a group gift to someone. MTH's website lists a "Shipping Date" of June 2012.

I've never purchased any new items from MTH. How accurate are their Shipping Dates? I realize anything can happen, but ... is MTH usually pretty good with these timelines?

Also .... MTH's new PS 3.0 ... still the same?: can not use Lionel's Legacy system to operate all the engine's cool features?

Thanks
Jim

My RK Imperial Norther Pacific 4-8-4, went from Jan order date for Sept delivery to Jan delivery to TBD. But it will be PS-3 and wireless tether so I can wait and MTH has announced why things are being pushed back and why no US steam in the last catalog. I think they underestimate the resources for the HO and European Market, then they fessed up and then Tsunami's, floods and what ever have hit their supply areas and they are affected just like automotive and electronics plants. You may have to order what dealers have to make the gift date. Smile
How accurate are MTH Shipping dates?
OMG, what a joke. MTH and Lionel are less accurate than our gubberment with the truth!
If the railroads were as accurate with their time tables as the toy train manufacturers are with their delivery dates, the railroads would have disappeared a hundred years ago.
There are no dates more ficticious than the toy train shipping dates!!!

Sorry for the rant, this is a pet peeve of mine.

Honestly, take the date, add 12 to 18 months and you might be in the ballpark!!!

Yes, PS3 is the next step up from PS2 (no more battery to worry about, plus other neat features). Legacy will not operate it.

Unless they cancel it in October 2013
