How do you get to the rotating light on Lionel Lighthouse

I have a Lionel Cape Hatteras Light house (item number 6-14087) That the rotating lights no longer lights up. The lights in the base lights and the beacon rotates but it does not light up. Lionel manual says the beacon lights should never need replacing. Has anyone taken one of these apart. I really only need to take the top off but cannot seem to figure it out.

I would appreciate any help.
