Lionel pins dont fit because they're round and realtrax is a flat top 'T'.  Gargraves pins on the other hand, will fit in the realtrax rails, but they're a little loose vertically. Horizontally, they fit very snug. If you put the pins in and screw down both sides of the gap, you shouldnt have any problems as long as you get it lined up right first.

I've never tried it, but I'd bet atlas joiners would also work.
