I have a PS-4 flatcar with a side plate that needs replacing. Any idea how without damaging the floor of the flatcar?

What side plate are you speaking of? Pictures would help.
I assume they are glued in. Maybe not every stake but enough. You might have to break the off and redrill the stake pockets.

The side rails are just held in with a friction fit. You can remove them by inserting a flat screwdriver blade in the gap between the side rail and the deck, and twisting the blade. Go slowly along the length of the rail and insert the screwdriver near each post until the whole thing pops out. Use a piece of thin cardboard to protect the wooden deck from gouging.
