The boiler for the 2037 has gone through changes since it was introduced in 1948 with the early model 2026. That particular version had some quality features not in the later ones, like valve gear assembly, stainless handrails and a decorative whistle. Looking at the 2037 you can see the holes for these features are still there but filled in.
So I took one of my 2037s and drilled out the holes and added the hardware back in. I ordered the valve gear assembly and used an eccentric crank from a 2055 Hudson. Now I have a full featured 2037 that has everything a Hudson has but in a smaller faster package. I also put in a liquid smoke unit and an on/off switch for it in the cab.
Some of my associates have asked me to do the same to their units. It does take some time and a few dollars in parts but I feel it's worth it.
