I want to run my MTH trains.  I have the DCS and will soon have 2 PS2 locos so I can run 2  trains plus a loco sound in the "yard"

I do not have the time or money to build like I did in HO.  So my "work around" is a gamble...

I bought some flex metal studs that they use to build curves in walls..it has bands on the sides that "tech screws" are placed in to hold the curve at a determined radius and I am getting "normal" metal studs to act as a "terra firma" for the rails and ties...... it will be on plywood gussets mounted on the walls to support the "layout"

My goal is to get off the floor( I am way too old for that nonsense)

I figured this is the least expensive way to set  up a railroad...that will have some decent mainline length for "circles" and a yard for some "back and forth" activity

will post with my success or failure

Sounds interesting but not terribly solid as a surface. I would mount some type of wood on those studs for a solid surface.

For fast and easy on the wallet, folding tables from your local big box store make a decent temporary support.

Mainstays 20" X 48" with folding legs are going for under $30 here in NH.

That gives a 4' X 8' bench for $120. Setting them along walls will work as well.

They don't have a wood or molded plastic to support your weight but they should hold up a train with no issues.

The $45 ones are much stronger and 6' X ~3.5', I use them for camping tables.

Yours sounds far more adjustable tho.
