Sonny,
That message could mean many things but most likely it is because of lost or poor signal. Does it happen in certain spots? Is it constant?
You can test your DCS signal by using the signal test soft key. Optimally, you should get a signal strength of 10. If you are getting 2s and3s, the problem could be wiring, power, dirty track or faulty engine.
I hope this helps,
Dave
Thanks Dave for the reply, I'll try what you suggest, Two separate tracks, and both engines show out of range. Why can't I have just easy problems?
Could also be remote/tiu communications/ How far away is the tiu from the remote?
loose transceiver board?? Does the problem go away if the tiu and remote are tethered with the curly phone cable. Maybe do a track signal test as a first step as David suggests.
I was under the impression that "Out of Range" was the remote to TIU communication, not the DCS track signal to the locomotive. I've gotten this a lot of times when I leave my test bench TIU powered up and try to run trains on the other one. The two get confused.
