But now i shut down the TIU first and then my 2 remotes (RevL 4.20 ps2 ps3). Running 3 MU's and several individual engines. Upon start up all maintain there settings well except for the cab chatter which has a mind of its own. My ? is was there ever an established procedure for shutdown and am i violating protocol?

Middle of video is my largest MU. Switchers in the end.

While I don't have a recommendation, I typically turn on one switch that powers up the entire layout. Then, I turn on my remotes.

I reverse the order when turning off the layout. First, I power down the remotes then turn off the layout itself.

Honestly, I don't believe that it makes a difference which is turned on or off first.

Bill,

Mine all power up at the same time from the Etekcity remote control, I have never had a problem yet, the Z4K's do start with their handles down however, the ZW's & KW's with the handles up, instantly powering the TIU's and track they are wired too.  I control everything from the Hand Held Remote Controls (HHRC's) of the DCS & Legacy however.  Great video by the way, does not due your incredible sound system justice however!

Your 2 rail stuff is just fantastic by the way.

I also have never noticed any difference resulting from which shuts down first. Unless a remote sends a signal to the TIUs when it is shutting down, which I doubt, I don't see how it would make any difference.

I do note that it takes a remote a while to shut down, and by then mt TIUs are usually all off.  When the grandchildren are running, it takes awhile to round up the remotes and shut them down; the TIU has to go off first to stop them from running trains and muster for a meal or to go home.

Thanks dave..i would love to standardize my sound so all could enjoy...go from a car fm converter to 900mhz or? I have been eye balling wireless mics as the boards in these look like they would fit in an engine.
