The short answer is yes they work good.  However no matter which system you use you must design in transitions.  You cannot go from one plane to another plane abruptly.  So make a test section and try your longest steamer and your longest diesel and see if the pilot/plow hits the rail going both directions.  At the top of the grade you will have the same situation but there you will need to try your longest rail cars to see if they stay coupled.  My best advice is to build a test section and work out the bugs and see if their system will work for you.  Russ
