... because a Mini Commander can overheat and catch fire if one does something stupid. Today I put a command converted WBB 44 Ton on the track for its first test run and all was fine. Lights, new couplers, sound, everything worked as it should. To tidy things up under the shell a bit I put it back on the bench (the mistake.) Later, back on the track without the shell for a final test, it ran great again
for about 30 seconds, and then the flames came. A nice little bonfire. I blew it out.
The post-mortem consisted of inspecting every wire inch by inch and checking its location looking for pinches, proper connections, etc. Could not find what I had done. The moral of the story for me is an old one. Leave well enough alone! (And pray the sound board is still okay for use elsewhere.)
