I received a JLC, GG1. I looks great. I took the shell off and noticed there was no 9 volt battery connected to the battery harness. All there was is another battery end connector that was connected to this. Can someone tell me what that was on there for? Thanks Joe

John its just another 9 volt battery hook up clipped onto the battery harness. I wonder if the engine came the factory that way so the end of the harness doesn't short on anything. I thought the engine would of had a battery in it.
You mean it's a loose harness with no connection to the internal electronics? None of the Lionel engines ever came with a battery from the factory, but they used to have a snap-on plastic shield for the battery clip.
John Thank you very much. That's exactly what I wanted to know. That's for your help again. Joe

Just so an owner won't leave it installed....the Century Club 1 GG1 came with an Eveready Industrial 9 volt battery installed. I removed mine, as did many others, but it is in there.
I believe it was the only time, in the Modern Era, that Lionel sold an engine with the battery installed.
Interesting, I never realized they did that with any of them. I guess I've never opened that particular engine.
I have many MTH GG'1 and the Lionel version has a lot more inside.
