Hi everyone!

Hope you have all had a great week! This past Saturday, May 26th, 2018, the Strasburg Rail Road in conjunction with Lerro Productions ran a mixed freight vintage train depicting WW2 transportation. This train ran in a charter titled the Red Ball Express and was used to raise funds for the rebuild of the Verdant View Farm's barn that burned down about 2-3 months ago. Over $10,000 dollars was raised to help defray the costs for the build.

Canadian National #89 was beautifully re-done in U.S. Transportation Corps lettering by the handwork of the employees at the SRC. Furthermore, this train during the day was also a second hourly train providing more photographic opportunities last Saturday.

Here is a video:

A crew shot with #89 before departing on the Red Ball Express. It should be noted that many who partook in this charter were volunteers.

It's about 5 pm and SRC #89 barks across the Pumpkinville Turnpike with supplies for the war effort on the home-front. The bridge spanning the Pumpkinville Turnpike was replaced in 2011 with the modern concrete structure you see here to accommodate for the heavy freight loads the SRC carries in their freight business.
