Would love to see a "modernized" ten wheeler from Williams, using that chassis and boiler. It should have a steel cab, perhaps a shortened stack, a boiler tube pilot and a more modern headlight. It would also be nice to have TMCC and a good sound system, as well, although I can easily have that installed.
Ten wheelers were very versatile engines and many of them, even though built around the turn of the centtury, were used right up to the end of steam on many railroads. They were probably only second to Consolidations in terms of overall popularity. I don't always want to run a huge 4-8-4 or a 4-6-6-4 to pull my "peddler" freights. A good little engine that can handle 8 to 10 post war cars is perfect for local patrols. And these little tea-kettles also were used on short, branch line passenger trains, as well, and that's something that Consol's were rarely used for.
