I recently got this one used, but in nice condition. My problem is that it runs very slow with conventional transformer power turned all the way up. Is this because it's been set up to run in command mode or does it have an electronics problem?  I'm not set up for TMCC , so if that's the problem, how do I reset it for conventional operation?

Why does it run very slow in conventional with full power?   Sorry, don't know. Easier to tell if it is in my hands.  It is not because it is command mode. TMCC equipment doesn't work like that. TMCC equipment knows right away if there is a TMCC signal as soon as you power the track.  You cannot "set" an engine for Command or Conventional operation.

The first thing I would check is the pick-up rollers. Spray a little WD-40 on the rivet that hold the roller in the bracket and give it a spin. I have had pick-up rollers that look nice and clean on the outside, but rusty on the rivet, not work.

Next I would attempt to take it to a nearby layout, club or private, that is TMCC equipped and give it a try.

This is a great little engine. As far as I know, pretty bullet proof. You are the first person that I have heard of, that is having challenges.

I have an Allegheny that does the same thing.  I have tried every combination of Reset codes and stall setting resets I could find and it still crawls in conventional and works great in TMCC.   You have 3 choices.  Operate in command mode, change the Motor Drive board to non cruise DCDR or modify to ERR CC-M.  Either will fix this issue and I can do this for you if you need help.  E-mail in profile.  G

I have the same locomotive. Did the same thing. Then it was sitting on the track in command mode and spontaneously burn up its boards. I am looking to replacing the boards with ERR boards... not sure what to buy.

Standard board to use if a Modular TMCC engine has an Ody or DCDR failure is the CCM as John stated.  G
