Please add me as a person that is very interested in your group. Although I live in Springfield, I would like to keep up with the group. Ever so often the wife and I go to KC, so we would be interested in a Saturday morning meeting if we are in town.

If any of you are in the Springfield, MO area, please contact us and we would love to show you some layouts here in town.

Hump Yard Mike:

I am setting up a small layout in 1/2 of a 2 car garage. At present I am building all the control components before I begin construction on a specially designed "modular" layout. The modules will be "plug and play" which means that all wiring between the modules will use special connectors to allow setup and tear down or modifications very quickly.

My controls system is composed of MTH DCS components.  I run conventional engines as well as PS-2 and PS-3 equipment.

Attached are photos of some of my completed control components.

Hump Yard Mike:

I have 2 MTH TIUs in my control system.

One of the TIUs has been mounted to a board with a MTH AIU.

I use this board to test and trouble shoot engines and accessories.

My other MTH TIU is also mounted on a board that has an MTH "Brick" which supplies power to the TIU by connecting to the "AUX POWER" input.

MY TIU test board is shown in the photo. All the components are securely mounted with screws.

I am proposing an informal "once a month" 3-Railers meeting in the Kansas City (south) region.  This would be an informal meet to share ideas about O scale 3-rail modeling.  This not a club, no dues, no memberships! Probably would meet between Olathe/Overland Park and Lees Summit. Possibly alternate east and west location, month to month. Any interested modelers in the Kansas City metro?

Saturday morning meetings - time to be determined or other?

Location for meeting probably at a local Library meeting room. Other ideas are welcome.  Post here if interested. OGR Forum will be the focal point.

Gregg....I contacted both Mike and "Prohobby" about our group.  I indicated that we have a few members of our group already in their area and since ours is already established and also does not have dues, etc.....perhaps you can get with them and see if they would like to be members of our MA3R group?  Both Mike and Prohobby responded to me.  I encouraged both to look at our website and see that we are made up of similar folks that are trying to get together every so often.

Thanks,

Alan

Alan (Pro-Hobby) and Chris,

Nice meeting you and Chris Saturday morning.  You both seem to down to earth and really enjoying the many aspects of the hobby.

Alan,

Thanks for working towards setting up a local group here in KC.  It would be really cool to see this develop into a nice group of guys (and gals) that can mentor each other on various aspects of the hobby.  I will get back to you and Chris tomorrow on a date for the two of you to see my set up.

Thanks,

Mike

It was great to meet everyone on Saturday. I enjoyed the time to network and swap stories. Mike summed up my like-kind thoughts about desire and direction going forward.
Mike, look forward to seeing your layout and to share ideas to address the items you brought to the table.
Alan, thank you again for putting the (ongoing) effort forward to bring us together offline!
Best,
Chris
