I just got one. Mine had TMCC and magnetic couplers. I upgraded it with a Cruise M and electro couplers. Runs fine either way but better with cruise.

I have a K-line S-3 and it runs great. A small diesel switcher, forward and reverse. But the couplers broke and I need to replace them - I have the parts already.

Was is challenging to upgrade the RS-3?
If you have done upgrades before you would find this one very straight forward. The Cruise M is slightly longer and caused the R2LC to bend slightly on its connector. Not a big deal. The pilots come off with one screw accessed from the top in front of the motor. That allows easy access to the coupler. The connectors on the motherboard have .1" spacing. I have bought many couplers over the years and had to search for a pair with matching connectors. There are at least two types with .1" spacing and one with 2mm spacing.
At this time I can't tell you the part number for couplers with the connector that is a direct match.
Boxcar Bill might be able to help out here.
BTW if the air hoses have not already snapped off the pilot be careful as they are diecast and easy to snap off.

I have one and it works well. It is worth the Cruise M upgrade. Pete is right, it is a tight fit but everything fits.
One note, for the Cruise M to work the R2LC board must be CO8 or higher (learned that the hard way). Check first and order the boards together, if you need it.
Boxcar Bill should have everything you need http://www.mttponline.com
Enjoy it.
I have the LIRR version and its great and reliable and strong.
I just bought a Lirr K-line Rs3 smoking unit and it arrived the other day without a smokestack and airhoses as well. I wanted to know if you could forward the part numbers and any information about the parts you ordered so I can order them too instead of going thru the trouble of sending it back. Thank you

I've had the exact same KLine engine for over 10 years........purchased at York in the old Yellow Hall from the store from Kentucky that used to set up between Nicholas Smith and OGR. It's a great runner and smokes up a storm!

I have the Kennecott Mines RS for many, many years. TMCC equipped, has run great since the day I bought it from the K-Line Collector Club.

Jeff, I ordered them from P&D Hobbies. They are Precision Scale items. Stack is PSC56224 and the air hoses I used are PSC04649.
