Hi, This is my first post, been reading for years. Finally getting the basement (daughter went to college). I would like your guys opinion on this idea.

I have this crudely drawn up in Autocad Electical.

The outer loop is O72, the inner loops are O54 and O42 using Gargraves and Ross. The grades are around 4% which I know are high, was planning on experimenting some.

I have mostly smaller diesels and don't plan on running large passenger cars.

The lake will swing down for access and I am planning to be able to pull it out from the wall.

The second pdf is the basic benchwork along with my waterjet file (no sawing)! Was planning on 3/4 birch plywood for benchwork.

I am a controls guy and have a large supply of automation hardware. Planning on having a plc and touchscreen control some of the layout.

Looking forward to wiring it!

Let me know what mistakes I have made.

Thanks, Scott

I like what you've done so far.  I too have a 11 x 13 train room.  I'm glad you included a O-72 loop for you existing (future) scale articulated/centipede.  Interesting putting bench work on casters so it'll move.  I have O-72,O-82 on outer loop but must tighten to O-54 inside the horseshoe curve to fit a dogbone layout in my room.

Reach is the only negative I saw when I looked at it. However, I think that can be dealt with by putting the grove of trees and lake on pop-outs.
