I have a DCS remote that always had very low contrast when you turn it on.
It seem to have gotten worse now.
I can barely make out the menus to get to the LCD Contrast menu and fix the contrast with the thumbwheel.
Contrast stays good until I power off and on again.
Is the contrast setting supposed to be saved in the remote between power cycles?

The contrast setting should be saved. One thing you might consider is reloading the current software into the remote, maybe something got corrupted. You might also do a backup of the remote data and do a factory reset, see if that gets it's mind right.
I tooled around bit more. After scrolling to the contrast you want, you have to click the wheel to save the setting.
That's true, I didn't even think to mention that.
