I posted this question in the discussion of "Can I use an LCRU2 to Run a DC Motor", but on second thought fell it should be a separate question.

I've been using Carl's (See above referenced post) wiring diagram to run DC motors with a LCRU for close to 10 years now.
Suddenly i've run into a problem: i've added an ERR Sound Commander to the circuit in two identical locos (GG1's) and have developed a problem in only ONE of them. In one installation everything works (start-up sounds, horn, bell; directional lighting; and engine runs perfectly). However in the second installation with the Sound Commander connected i get ONLY start-up sounds (NO horn or bell) and the engine will NOT move NOR change directional lighting -- disconnect the Sound Commander and the engine runs as it should.
Any ideas before i call ERR tomorrow??

Did the second ERR unit ever work? Can you swap the ERR units into the other units. If the problem follows the ERR, I would suspect an ERR board problem, if the original offending GG still won't work with the other ERR board, and the working one still works, then I would suspect something amiss on the GG1 LCRU. First, I'd swap the boards and see if it follows the board.

FWIW, I had an ERR Cruise Commander and I tried to use a different RailSounds package with it and it also interfered. This was the Lionel two board set with a small motherboard that works fine connected to a Mini-Commander equipped engine, don't know what about the Cruise Commander and this board was the issue. I suspected interference from the switching power supply board.

Why not 2? Use the appropriate LCRU and Sound Commander that work together to get 2 good units. Otherwise I can't explain the incompatibility. G
