I run both, Legacy (CAB2) and DCSI wasn't sure whether to post this in the DCS forum or this one.  Here's my issue. Prior to upgrading my DCS Remote and TIU to 6.1 two accessories that run off the SER2 (serial port) of the LCS worked perfectly.  The AMC/AC Log Loader (6-24115) and the AMC/ARC Gantry Crane (6-24206).  After the upgrade, neither accessory responded to my CAB2.  They worked using the controllers, but not the CAB2. The LED flashes on the controller when sending commands from the CAB2 but, for example, the crane does not move.  I have the Gantry Crane paired with the Crane Sounds Work House which works fine...it plays the corresponding sound from the command given by the CAB2.  The LCS modules flash according to the manuals as they should...everything else works fine; I checked the wires running from the SER2 to the accessories and everything is connected as it should be.  I did a factory reset on the crane and reassigned the TMCC ID#.  Nothing.  Is it possible the TIU upgrade vesion 6.1 screwed up the serial port/output somehow?   Interestingly, the crane works using the LCS WiFi app, full functionality; Log Loader will move logs to the staging area but will not dump the logs using the WiFi App.  I can't figure out what to do next to fix this issue.  Help appreciated. Thanks.

Ed,

Is it possible the TIU upgrade version 6.1 screwed up the serial port/output somehow?

Almost certainly that is not the case at all.

Much more likely is that when you removed the TIU from the layout and then replaced it after the upgrade, you put it back connected differently than it was previously.

Alternatively, something else was changed.

I now have them working in command mode.  Prior to the update, I assigned Accessory, vice Engine ID#s.  They worked fine. After the TIU and Remote upgrade, they would not respond to Accessory IDs.  However, I discovered if I used the old ID# as an Engine ID#, they both worked fine.  Wifi is OK also for the Gantry but Log Loader, not so much.  I'll try to figure out why this ID switch, but now that they are working and the Engine IDs don't conflict with anything in my roster, I'm calling this case closed.  The only curious thing to me is the Gantry manual talks about icons on the CAB2 for the magnet/hook...walkie talkie, etc. My CAB2 is in Cab1 mode and shows no icons, only numbers.  ???

Ed, unplug the MTH cable from the SER2.  If the Lionel TMCC accessories operate normally from the CAB2 without the TIU connected, then the problem lies with the MTH gear.

To further diagnose what is going on, download the LCS WiFi Monitor LE, install it on a notebook, and connect to the Lionel WiFi.  You can see all of the commands transmitted on the PDI buss with the software.  After you are comfortable watching normal operation commands going to the TMCC accessories, plug the MTH cable into the SER2.  See what changes with the TIU connected.  You might want to record a test sequence with the CAB2 so you can replay the same commands with and without the TIU connected.

Tracker John, that’s an excellent idea. I will do that today. I didn’t know of this software but after your suggestion I watched a tutorial by Lionel on YouTube. We’re supposed to get snow over the weekend so this is a very good reason to stay in doors and work this project!   Thanks.

For some reason when I try to install the program on my desktop running Windows 8.1 I get a visual basic error: incompatibility that I can't fix.  My laptop is running XP and likewise it will not install on it either as some system files are out of date and apparently can't be updated, probably because XP is no longer supported.  Now I have a good reason to replace my laptop!
