I want to put landing lights on a helo landing pad on a roof. The roof is 1/8 in. Hard board. I thought about drilling small holes in the roof and lighting through the roof holes. This would mean that the led tape would be placed bulb side up and fastened. Will the cause any problem with the leds

thanks,  tstark

While the 1/8" hard board may not seem deep, when I've done similar LED projections, I drip clear-drying glue into the hole to make a lens which gives a finished look.  I've even mixed food coloring with the glue so the "lens" has the appropriate color - for example blue food coloring in your case.

Here's an example of a school bus (about O-gauge) where red and yellow food coloring was mixed with clear glue to make the colored red and yellow lenses.  The lens are lit by surface-mounted LEDs just like those used on LED strips.
